Lancashire and Blackpool has recently played host to a number of major conferences many of which have taken place at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.
The Inner Wheel and Rotary conferences had a huge impact on the town with approximately 5,000 delegates in attendance. These events were closely followed by the British Legion Women's section and USDAW all of which took place in April.
The months of May and June were also very busy and the National Pensioners Convention was said to be the most successful event held to date.
Neil Duncan-Jordan, National Officer for the Pensioners' Parliament said:
"Last week's Pensioners' Parliament was the most successful event ever. This year in particular, the level of co-operation and support given by the VistBlackpool conference team to the National Pensioners Convention was excellent - and we hope it will get even better next time! The real coup though was the entertainment on the Wednesday night - the Bachelors brought the house down!"
With the recent acquisition of software package ConferenceBOOKINGS the team were also able to offer a complete accommodation booking service to all delegates attending these events and concession booklets, containing offers and discounts at many of the attractions, restaurants and businesses around the town, was distributed. Having recently secured the Better Government for Older People conference in October 2008, along with the Album Conference for May 2009 the team are also hoping to play host to the National Food Markets Conference later on in the year, which ties in nicely with the Taste of Lancashire campaign.
